Tally releases change over time, so add-ons are maintained. This page explains which updates are free, which are chargeable and how you receive a new build.
Types of update
- Bug fix — a defect in the add-on is corrected. Always free.
- Compatibility build — the add-on is recompiled for a new TallyPrime release. Free within the update period.
- Feature version — new capability is added to the product. Chargeable as an upgrade, at a discount for existing licence holders.
Update period
Every purchase includes twelve months of free compatibility builds and bug fixes from the date of the order, for the Tally serial number the licence was issued against.
After that period the add-on keeps working on the Tally release you are on. A recompiled build for a newer Tally release is then offered at a nominal upgrade fee.
How to get an updated build
- 1Note your order number and your Tally serial number.
- 2Contact support with the Tally release you have moved to.
- 3We confirm eligibility and issue the recompiled build.
- 4Replace the old file in your TDL folder with the new one and reload Tally.
What is not covered
- Changes requested to suit a specific business process — that is custom development
- Problems caused by a modified or decompiled add-on file
- Tally releases outside the supported range listed on the compatibility page
- Issues arising from data corruption or from other third-party add-ons loaded alongside
Frequently asked questions
Will my add-on stop working if I do not update?
No. It keeps working on the Tally release it was issued for. An update is needed only when you move Tally to a release the build was not compiled for.
How am I told about updates?
Compatibility builds are announced by e-mail to the address on your order, and support can confirm the latest build for your product at any time.
