Installing a TDL takes about a minute. The file is saved to a folder on your computer or server, then registered inside Tally so it loads every time Tally opens.
Before you start
- Save the downloaded file in a permanent folder, for example C:\Tally\TDL — not in Downloads
- Close any other users' sessions if you are loading on a server data path
- Keep your Tally serial number handy for activation
- Take a routine backup — good practice before any configuration change
Installing in TallyPrime
- 1Open TallyPrime and press F1 (Help).
- 2Select TDL & Add-on.
- 3Press F4 (Manage Local TDLs).
- 4Set Load selected TDL files on startup to Yes.
- 5In the file path field, type or browse to the full path of your .tcp file.
- 6Accept the screen. TallyPrime reloads and the add-on menu or report appears.
Installing in Tally ERP 9
- 1Open Tally ERP 9 at the Gateway of Tally.
- 2Press F12 and choose Product & Features.
- 3Press F4 (Manage Local TDLs).
- 4Set Load TDL Files on Startup to Yes.
- 5Enter the full path and file name of the TDL file.
- 6Accept the screen and restart Tally if prompted.
If the add-on does not appear
- Check the file path spelling, including the .tcp extension
- Confirm the file is not blocked by Windows (Right click > Properties > Unblock)
- Confirm Tally is licensed and running under the serial number used at purchase
- Confirm your Tally release is within the supported range on the compatibility page
- Antivirus quarantine is a common cause — restore the file and add an exclusion
Frequently asked questions
Can I load more than one TDL at a time?
Yes. Tally accepts multiple files in the local TDL list. Add each file on its own line in the configuration screen.
Do I need to reinstall after a Tally update?
Usually no — the path stays registered. If a Tally release changes internal objects, request the updated add-on build from support.
